Why hire a Personal Trainer?

This is a question that we’ve had a few times so having this post can act as both a reference point for those looking for an answer and also as a prompt to others on how a personal trainer or coaching can actually help.
We can only answer this question from our philosophy, others may do it differently but this is what we provide, what to expect and how we go about things here at Body Health and Fitness.

Perhaps the simplest way to describe the process is as a roadmap. You give us your destination and we help provide you with the healthiest route to that point, along with setting some realistic expectations.
NOTICE WE SAID HEALTHIEST ROUTE RATHER THAN QUICKEST ROUTE. YOU CAN TAKE, AND FIND SHORTER ROUTES TO YOUR DESTINATION BUT THESE DON’T ALWAYS HAVE YOUR HEALTH OR WELLBEING AS A PRIORITY.

EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT, SOME PEOPLE NEED TO BE PUSHED, BUT OTHERS EQUALLY NEED TO BE REIGNED IN. THERE IS A LOT MORE TO TRAINING THAN BEING EXHAUSTED ALL THE TIME. TRAINING HARD IS NOT THE SAME THING AS TRAINING SMART.

AS MUCH AS EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT, EVERYBODY’S SITUATION IS ALSO DIFFERENT. THE NUTRITION AND TRAINING APPROACH TO A 24YO OLD MALE STUDENT WITH THE ABILITY TO TRAIN 6HRS PER WEEK WHILE GETTING 8+ HOURS SLEEP PER NIGHT IS ENTIRELY DIFFERENT TO A 40YO WORKING MOTHER, WHO’S MAJORITY OF TIME IS SPENT KEEPING A JOB AND FAMILY ON 6HRS OF BROKEN SLEEP.

THIS MAY SEEM OBVIOUS BUT PEOPLE FOLLOW UNREALISTIC TRAINING TEMPLATES PULLED STRAIGHT FROM THE INTERNET, WITHOUT CONSIDERING ANY OF THE CONSEQUENCES…AT BEST IT’LL BE DE-MORALISING WHEN YOU CAN’T SUSTAIN IT, AT WORST YOU’LL DRILL YOURSELF INTO THE GROUND OR INJURE YOURSELF.

PLEASE READ THAT PARAGRAPH AGAIN BUT NOW SUBSTITUTE THE WORD TRAINING WITH NUTRITION.

MAKE NO MISTAKE THOUGH THE FOUNDATION FOR CHANGE WILL STILL BE YOUR HONESTY OF EFFORT AND APPLICATION OF OUR RECOMMENDATIONS. WE PROVIDE YOU WITH THE ROADMAP BUT WE CANNOT TRAVEL THE PATH FOR YOU.
